Today was an important day for the City of West Monroe as we celebrated the completion of the new Drago Sewer Lift Station!
At $5.7million, the new Drago Sewer Lift Station is the single largest infrastructure project completed since I took office in 2018. This new facility replaces the original Drago Sewer Lift Station constructed in 1957.
As the second-largest sewer lift station in West Monroe, Drago serves more than 3,100 homes and businesses across approximately five square miles of our city, with more than 15 other City lift stations feeding into it.
Reliable water and sewer infrastructure is essential to protecting the health and safety of our residents, supporting our businesses and creating the capacity for West Monroe to continue growing for generations to come.
A project this size would not be possible without partners. Approximately $3.9 million in funding was secured through the State of Louisiana Water Sector Program, with additional support through the State of Louisiana and the City of West Monroe.
We are incredibly grateful to the Northeast Louisiana Legislative Delegation and everyone who helped secure the resources necessary to make this long-awaited project a reality.
A big thank you also goes to S E Huey Co. for designing the project, general contractor Don M. Barron Contractor, Inc. and City staff who were involved in the planning and construction of this important project.
This project is an investment in West Monroe’s future, our businesses, our neighborhoods and the people who call our city home.
